Malaysians of Melbourne University MoMU

Season's Greetings

Wednesday, December 16, 2009

Once again, we're at that magical time of the year; no assignments , no exams, no stress, no midnight oil to burn but just weeks of gloriously whee-ho holidays. As 2009 draws to a close, the committee of MoMU would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you

MERRY CHRISTMAS

and a

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

It has been a great year at MoMU and while we've been privileged to share these wonderful memories with some of you, we are now all set to relive those wonderful moments again with the rest of you in 2010.

Some upcoming events to watch out and look forward to are:

1. Welcome BBQ

The annual gathering had always been, and is still the event to kick-start a new year at MoMU. Whether you're new to MoMU or a returning member, you are most welcome to our 2010 Welcome BBQ held during Orientation Week. And it's all FREE!!! So why hesitate? Drop by to say hello...

Stay tuned for more information regarding the event.

2. More events

There's a whole new range of exciting events in store this coming year. We're keeping our cards close to our chest for now, but you might want to sharpen your tastebuds, or maybe fish out your best bikini or tone up those six packs....

3. More Sponsors

To say our list of sponsors had swelled is really an understatement. Our new group of sponsors are guaranteed to impress, and some names might even ring many bells. Members signing up at orientation will be getting a huge slab of the good stuff , and perhaps even win some goodies.

4. New Blog Design

After years of the good ole' template, we're redecorating our blog. That said, the recipe that moulded the fun factor at MoMU remains original.

Stay tuned for the new design

So it's best to keep an eye out for updates. Until then, have a fantastic holiday and we hope to see you again next year.

Pre-Exam Clubbing

Monday, October 12, 2009

Dear MoMU-ians,

I reviewed the academic performances of your current semester, it has come to my attention that you have been skipping lectures and finishing assignments at the eleventh hour, in a rather consistent manner. The exams are just around the corner, yet you display no effort in changing your bad behaviours. These are strictly not tolerated under the school policies. Therefore, on behalf of MoMU, you would be sent to DETENTION. Excuses and exemptions are prohibited.

It's that time of the year to rant about all those exam stress, what better way to beat it than having a big partay . Come join MoMU for a fun-filled night at erm.... detention 'school'.

Details of the event are as follow:

Theme: Detention
Date: 17th October (Saturday)
Price: $18
Venue: Bass Lounge (
91-103 little bourke street, China Town)

Priority entry before 11pm. Please present your MoMU membership card at entrance of club.

There will also be a drink special. Chambord, Soho and Crown Lager are $6 if you purchase before 12am.

We'll see you there.

MOONLIGHT OASIS REMINDERS

Thursday, September 17, 2009

At long last, after all those months of anticipation, shopping and knees on floors (Good effort guys XD), it's now only 24 hours away from boarding the biggest cruise ball event ever. Oooh yeah!

I'm sure most of you would not want to miss it for the world, so here's a few friendly reminders that will undoubtedly ensure your evening is as memorable and pleasant as promised.

*****

Please be aware that

THE SHIP LEAVES AT EXACTLY 6PM
THE SHIP LEAVES AT EXACTLY 6PM
THE SHIP LEAVES AT EXACTLY 6PM
THE SHIP LEAVES AT EXACTLY 6PM

The only way to fit into the context of being 'fashionably late' is to board the ship while it's at the center of Port Phillip Bay. That requires either swimming, or renting a sampan, or riding a dolphin, or doing a car jump off the edge of the docks, Starsky and Hutch style. Unfortunately, MoMU will not be able to provide any of the aforementioned services.

Hence, it's highly recommended that you be on the ship no later than 5.30pm. There is a lounge onboard for you to have a drink while waiting for the ship to set sail, and a deck for you to enjoy the bay breeze and the beautiful surroundings of Docklands.

Please be reminded that latecomers will not be able to get a refund for their tickets.

The ship will be docked at the Waterfront City in Docklands. The MV Rivers Voyager is one of the largest ship at bay and it will be quite hard to miss.

We understand some of you might have trouble finding the place, therefore we had set up a pick-up point in the city to guide you to the ship. Our representative will be outside the

Melbourne Central Tram Stop
(Outside the Jeans West Clothing Store),
Swanston St,
at 5.00pm

to pick you up. So please be on time.

****

That's all for now. Looking forward to seeing you all on the ship tomorrow!
