Dear MoMU-ian,

After a nice long summer break, it is time we get back to uni and have some fun!

This semester is going to be an exciting one for MoMU, and of course for all our members.

The new sponsors, new activities, new faces... MoMU gives you a different experience this year, while maintaining our malaysian taste of lah(s) & nahhh (s) with some warmth plus friendliness.

Btw, here is a reminder that you have to renew your membership to stay as a member. To do that, you can either go to the MoMU booth in Wilson Hall on this Thursday or Friday 10am-4pm to sign up; or drop by the MoMU table anytime during the semester (monday to friday 12-2pm at union house) to sign up or ask any questions you have in mind.

The membership fee is $10 per year ($5 for union members).

So people, don't forget to sign up or renew your membership as soon as you can! We are giving out free movie tickets on Thursday and Friday, so make sure you come and try your luck! :D

December is finally here, and so is summer.

Time to get those bikinis and swimming trunks out ladies and gentlemen, cause its beach time!

As the semester is officially over, too bad but to say MoMU isn't organising one beach party now. But if there's support from you all, who knows? maybe we can organise something great when time comes. What do ya'll think?

And for those back at home, enjoy the hot humid weather with some yummy ice kacang and cendol... woots.

Dear MoMU-ers...

Uni life for 2010 has come to an end now... (oh strictly speaking it is still not over yet, but well..... we dont have classes anymore, right? so.... yeah :D)

This year has been a great year for MoMU. Remember those yummy chicken wings and sausages at the welcome BBQ, the tiredness of running around the city at our treasure hunt event, the fun we had singing karaoke at chi lounge, the great experience of skiing and snowboarding with tons and tons of fluffy snow (ignore the rain part of course), the nights we drank, danced and got high together at seven, the sexaay dance + delicious food + memorable polaroids we got at the MoMU ball and all other wonderful events....... Taking this opportunity, MoMU committees would like to say a big "THANK YOU" to YOU.

Thank you SO MUCH for supporting MoMU this year!! We hope that you enjoyed all the events you attended throughout the year. [If you have any comments regarding past events or suggestions for any future events, just leave a comment here, or drop an email to us anytime.]

Last but not least, we might be organising a post-exam clubbing event for all members to come along and celebrate the end of our exams together. So please do check our website when you are done with your exams and prepare to get high with us once again!

believe it or not, its almost week 9. [= 2/3 of this semester is literally gone!! oh nooooooo, that. is. bad.]

and well, after being away from home for... such a long time, I found myself craving for malaysian delicacies. so.. ehherm... in case anyone else wants some nice malaysian food but don't know where to go, here is just a short list of REALLY great m'sia restaurants:

Activities Officer (4)

· Involves hands on brainstorming, organising and helping out during activities

· We are looking for people who are committed, efficient, innovative, responsible, FUN and spontaneous, willing to commit a significant amount of time and effort to the club and are good team players

· Involves helping directors to find sponsors, create new ties and other organisations

· We are looking for people who have good communication skills, and are able to communicate effectively with potential sponsors, equipped with commendable writing skills, confident, creative and willing to put in time for the department and are capable of handling multiple tasks at a given time

· Involves all kinds of publicity for MoMU club and events - chalk run, posters design.

· We are looking for people who possess sufficient knowledge in Photoshop, who are CREATIVE, outgoing, sociable, committed, punctual and are able to carry out duties responsibly

IT Officer/Editor (1)

· Involves handling the MoMU blog, FaceBook and any other computer related/online things, compiling our newsletter or Eyeball publications.

· We are looking for people who are familiar with HTML, website designs,and passionate with writing/blogging.

Note that officers are not limited to their allocated positions so if you are interested in other areas, there are opportunities to mix around and get involved. You can also apply for multiple positions.

All you need to do is drop us an email and arrange for a short interview (10 to 15 minutes) anytime between 3pm – 6.30pm on 25/8/2010 (Wednesday) to 27/8/2010 (Friday)

CMG's Crimspon Spring

Melbourne University Chinese Music Group (CMG) warmly invites you to attend our annual musical production “春祭 Crimson Spring” which will be held on 13^th, 14^th, 19^th, 20^th and 21^st of August, at 7 pm in Union House Theatre, ground floor of Union House, University of Melbourne.

Directed by award winning director Felix Ho, this musical revolves around the themes of Desire, Isolation, Politics, Sacrifice and Family. An original script and music; backed by the power of orchestra and dance, this musical features the new direction headed by CMG 2010. There will also be English subtitles for the non-Chinese speakers.

Jabatan Penuntut Malaysia Australia (JPMA) telah membuat keputusan untuk mengambil lebih ramai residen Dewan Malaysia Melbourne (DMM) pada semester hadapan iaitu seramai 68 orang. Residen bermaksud pelajar yang menginap di DMM untuk tempoh yang panjang. Para pelajar di Melbourne yang berminat boleh mengemukakan permohonan mulai sekarang sehingga 5 JULAI 2010. Kelulusan akan dimaklumkan selepas 9 Julai 2010. Kadar sewa yang dikenakan adalah sangat murah, AUD 4 sehari untuk pelajar siswazah (undergraduate) dan AUD 6 sehari untuk pelajar pasca siswazah (postgraduate).

Cuma, perlu diingatkan, bahawa residen diminta untuk membantu pihak pengurusan di dalam menjaga kebersihan, menghadiri program-program yang dianjurkan, membantu para pelajar baru dan pelancong rakyat Malaysia yang menginap di DMM dan sebagainya.

Pihak JPMA akan menilai prestasi setiap residen setiap semester. Sekiranya ramai pelajar yang berminat untuk menjadi residen, maka residen yang aktif membantu sahaja yang akan dibenarkan untuk terus menginap pada semester berikutnya. Every year, our MoMU Ski Trip has always been a sold out event because it is value for money and the feedback has always been positive. In continuance of our yearly tradition, our ski trip is going to one of the best ski mountains in Melbourne, Falls Creek.
You can just ask among the skiing enthusiasts and they would recommend Falls Creek over other mountains because the skiing experience there is remarkable.

Old Town Makan and Appreciation

First of all, a big thank you to the participants of the Old Town Makan, from MoMU as well as MUMSU.

We hope you enjoyed the food prepared by our revered Moonlight Oasis Ball sponsor, Old Town Kopitiam, as well as the complimentary Chi Lounge and karaoke sessions.

Sadly, the Old Town Makan event concludes our collaborations with MUMSU, our fellow Monash University friends, in the extremely successful and well received Moonlight Oasis Cruise Ball.

We are proud to have been given such a wondrous opportunity to work with the very capable team from MUMSU, and in the course of the collaboration we had successfully forged closer relationships among the two Malaysian student communities.

And thus, we would like to wish MUMSU current president Nicholas Lam and his equally capable committee a successful year 2010, and we look forward to more opportunities to work together.

Anyhoo, here is an update of changes as a consequence of the discarded weekend. Basically, we're rescheduled major events in March, adjusting it to a preferable one-event-a-week schedule so you won't be missing out.

WELCOME BBQ

The Welcome BBQ has been rescheduled to 14th March, which is this coming Sunday, and will be held at Flagstaff Gardens.

It will not be held on the 10th of March (Wednesday) at the campus, as earlier suggested on the facebook event page and emails.

I've reattached some of the original information of the event, as they generally remains the same:

The Gardens can be accessed by train, which stops at Flagstaff, and by tram, with No.55 tram accessing via William St and any trams going southwest (towards Docklands) from Latrobe Street. That includes the free City Circle tram. Keep an eye out for our banners.

Then the 'SPONSORS' is......eh this I don't think need to explain right, guarantee everyone go see liao one, syokness.... Then 'COMMITTEE' got all our pretty faces lorr, go see lah! Then 'CONTACT US' is for you to kepo kepo with us one. Then 'Old Blog' is to go back to the last time blog one lorr.

Then you got see three big colourful icons righttt? First one is link to the facebook lorr. Second one is send us email one lorr. And third one ah, hehe.....more of our pretty faces lahhh! Giggles*

Then got the chatbox, is like the kopitiam of MoMU lah, for you to kepo kepo more!

The annual gathering had always been, and is still the event to kick-start a new year at MoMU. Whether you're new to MoMU or a returning member, you are most welcome to our 2010 Welcome BBQ held during Orientation Week. And it's all FREE!!! So why hesitate? Drop by to say hello...

2. More events

There's a whole new range of exciting events in store this coming year. We're keeping our cards close to our chest for now, but you might want to sharpen your tastebuds, or maybe fish out your best bikini or tone up those six packs....

To say our list of sponsors had swelled is really an understatement. Our new group of sponsors are guaranteed to impress, and some names might even ring many bells. Members signing up at orientation will be getting a huge slab of the good stuff , and perhaps even win some goodies.
